ASBMF #4: April Showers

Hello!

First let me say that in doubt of anything, Google is your best friend to look for answers. Day 4 of the ASBMF challenge is "April showers" and I had no idea what it meant. After researching, I learned that it is a time of year when it rains and I quickly looked some images online for inspiration. I found this beautiful image and wanted a mani that reflects it. Let me know what you think about it!

My inspiration
Image property of Tidbits of Wisdom

I started with 2 coats of Julep Leah, an intriguing mint green with light green shimmer. It is my favorite Julep polish, I have no color like this in my collection :-)

Natural light

I then layered 1 coat of Sally Hansen Glass slippers, a top coat with transparent flakies. I could have stopped here :-) I love how discreet the flakies are with a light base. But nope, I added more lol

Natural light

I wanted some kind of depth to my mani, so I added 1 coat of Kleancolor Green with envy. It is a green jelly base with green hex glitters. It did the work in bringing me closer to my inspiration pic!

Natural light

I added another coat of SH Glass slippers for more depth.

Natural light

The last touch is one coat of Essie Matte about you, a top coat that gives a matte finish to any polish !

 Natural light

I'm really proud of this in the way that I was somewhat close to my original idea. Thanks for reading!
Go have a look at those manis it's so fun !

  5. The saying it's from is, "April showers bring May flowers." I was going to say it's a childhood nursery rhyme, but then I actually wondered where it came from, and since I'm horribly curious, I actually took the time to look it up. Apparently, it came from a gentleman named Thomas Tusser, who assembles a collection of writings he called A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry in 1557. In the section of April Husbandry he wrote:

    Sweet April showers
    Do spring May flowers.

I had no idea it was *that* old! I figured it was probably something out of the Farmer's Almanac, but that's only since Benjamin Franklin's time. :)

Now that we've all learned our historical trivia for the day, I've just got to say that your mani reproduced the raindrops on leaves look SO very well! It's gorgeous! Great job!
