Hello my dears! Today, my guest is Kelly from Nails for the Sake of Sanity that I met last year in the Nail Challenge Collaborative. I have to confess that the originality of her blog's name got my attention and got me curious. She has very creative nail art ideas as you will see below. Thank you Kelly!
Hello everyone!! I'm Kelly from Nails for the Sake of Sanity. I have to say, I was super excited when Karine asked me to contribute a guest post to her blog while she's traveling - not only because I love her blog, but also because this is my first guest post EVER! :)
Karine asked us to think of what our favorite kind of nail art is, which is really hard for me because I love it all!! What I ended up realizing is that my favorite kind of nail art is actually freehand interpretations of real life things. Whether it be animals, other things in nature like trees, flowers, geometic patterns, etc. I just really like freehanding things that you might also find in real life. :)
SO! Which brings me to my post. I have been meaning to try this design for a while, and I thought this was a perfect opportunity. Today, I have created for you - a Koi Fish nail design! Check it out :)
I've seen plenty of these designs on Google and on other blogs, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous to give it a try. But they ended up being easier than I'd thought, and I wanted to share the steps with you all so that you don't let a little fear of coming up short stop you from some really cool nail art. :)
Here it is:
I've done the actual tutorial in a collage, so you can see how the fish progress. If you click the photo, it will take you to the bigger image.
Then topcoat and you're done! See? Not that hard at all! You could do more fish on your accent nails, or I contemplated doing a fish scale stamp over the blue, but I happened to have You're So Koi by Kunimitsu Nail Potions, and I couldn't resist. I think it looks perfect next to the fish!
Here's the finished product:
And a close up of the thumb. You're So Koi is such an amazingly beautiful polish - I had to show it on its own! Just look how the flakies and iridescent hexes shimmer in the sun - just like fish scales. :)
Polishes I used:
Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint
Kunimitsu Nail Potions You're So Koi
China Glaze Japanese Koi (Neon)
Sinful Black on Black
Sinful Snow Me White
Stripe Rite Black
Stripe Rite White
I want to really thank Karine for the opportunity to share my nail art with you all, I hope you've liked it! I would love it if you'd check me out at some of the sites below for nail art, swatches, and more!
Thanks again Karine, and I hope you're having tons of fun traveling!
