Matte & Studs

Hey there! Since the launch of the "matte effect" top coats/polishes, I found myself kind of lost on being creative with it. A matte top coat only has one purpose: mattify the polish it's applied on. I tried stamping with Essie Matte About You and it didn't work. I looked for inspiration on Pinterest and mostly saw two trends : 1. simple matte vs glossy nail art (dotticure, french, stamping etc) 2. elaborate nail art with a mattified finish I went out of the box and chose to do a matte base with a creme stamping, sans top coat. I apologize in advance for the blurry pictures that makes it difficult to see the difference in textures. One word of advice for the Seche Vite afficionadas: be patient when doing matte/cream nail art and let your polish fully dry. Pour moi, une top coat matte n'a qu'une seule fonction: matifier le vernis sur lequel elle est appliquée. J'ai essayé de stamper avec Essie Matte About You et ça été la cata. Je m'excuse d'avance pour les photos floues qui ne permettent pas de bien voir la différence de textures. Un conseil pour les adeptes de Seche Vite : soyez patientes quand vous faites un nail art matte/crème et laissez sécher votre vernis complètement. Fiery Matte Flakies

Hey there! I haven't worn flakies in a long time so I decided to dust them off and use it for todays' mani. My matte top coat has also been sitting in my nail polish rack for some time, and we all know that flakies + matte is a winning combo. I feel like my nails are on fire, love the rocky look. Hey lovelies! As I told you before, I started a new job and I'm restricting myself to plain nail polish shades, and it's boring lol. So I decided to find ways to spice my manicures up without getting into nail art. I had always wanted to try the matte/glossy trend and I used Essie Matte About You, Wet N Wild Black Creme, and Seche vite. What do you think of it?

Gold and Black Abstract nails

Hello! I hope you are having a nice day. Mine is kind of boring so I put a special polish to cheer me up. I had received Layla Softouch 02 as a bday club gift. It's opaque in two coats and covers your nail with a glittery gold. The beauty of this polish is in its finish: it dries very fast with a matte/soft/non-glossy finish. I also did a saran nail art with Wet N Wild Black Creme on my ring finger. So have you tried the softouch effect? What do you think of it? Thanks for reading!

Coucou! J'espère que vous passez une bonne journée. La mienne est plutôt molle donc j'ai mis un vernis spécial pour me remonter le moral. J'avais reçu Layla Softouch 02 comme cadeau de mon club d'annif. Il est opaque en deux couches et couvre votre ongle avec une teinte or scintillante. La beauté de ce vernis est dans sa finition: il sèche très rapidement avec une finition mate/non brillante. J'ai aussi fait du saran nail art avec Wet N Wild Noir Crème sur mon annulaire. Avez-vous déjà essayé l'effet softouch? Qu'en pensez-vous? Merci de me lire!

Barry M - Denim

Hello!
Oh my! My first matte polish! I recently did a swap with my UK friend Aimee and this pretty was of of my "surprises". It is from the brand Barry M and is so gorgeous! It's a denim blue matte with silver shimmer. Denim wears its name so well, it just look like the pair of jeans I have on :) I love it, opaque in one coat, and the drying time is less than 2mn, which is perfect for me. On to the pics!

Playing with Dior Rock Coat

Hey lovelies!
I got the Dior Rock Coat a few months ago at Nordstorm but didn't get to play with it until now. It is a sheer black jelly base that comes in a 10ml bottle and is supposed to give an ombre look when applied over a color. I like it but think that you can franken your own easily and cheaper with a couple drops of black polish in a clear base. According to Dior, Rock Coat is "the ultimate smoky topcoat. As a topcoat, its semi-transparent black formula coats varnish with a veil of smoky lacquer, extending wear and increasing shine. Your nail varnish takes on an enigmatic 'rock' look." Well let's see. I layered it over different colors.

Revlon Fire Fox and gold flames stamping!

Hey lovelies!
I have a matte polish for you today! Revlon Fire Fox is another polish received from my bday club friend. It is a red matte polish with shimmer. It is opaque in two coats and dries very fast. The name inspired me do to a simple stamping manicure. I stamped with Kleancolor Metallic Yellow and used Bundle Monster 2nd set BM 223. They are supposed to be zebra stripes but they look like flames to me. I like the contrast of the red matte with the shiny gold stamp. I hope you like it too :)

ASBMF #8: Matte Magic!

Hey lovelies!
I'm having a game night with two close friends that I got into nail polish and one of them suggested that we should have a nail related prize for the winner. We will have different games including Scrabble, Uno, Wii, and Poker. I foresee a fun night, especially because I want to win the Grand Prize (each one of us gave decants of our HTFs): China Glaze TTYL, China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out, and China Glaze LOL.
I so wanted to have nails that looked liked cards but couldn't figure it out so I matched my ASBMF Matte manicure to the game night theme.

ASBMF #4: April Showers

First let me say that in doubt of anything, Google is your best friend to look for answers. Day 4 of the ASBMF challenge is "April showers" and I had no idea what it meant. After researching, I learned that it is a time of year when it rains and I quickly looked some images online for inspiration. I found this beautiful image and wanted a mani that reflects it. Noir Désir (pics heavy)

I finally tried the matte effect! I always wanted to do it after seeing some beautiful matte manicures online. So I did try it with Noir Désir and I love the result. This polish might be my favorite from the whole collection. Noir Désir is a black charcoal jelly with an explosion of opalescent flakies and glitter. It is very sparkly and distracting, I won't recommend driving with it (lol)
